About Me

My name is Naresh

As a child who was born and raised in a suburb of Chennai in South India, I dreamt big which at that time appeared ludicrous and completely unattainable. I feel so blessed and lucky for my travels and the spectacular experiences that I only dreamt of. I was on the downside of advantage and I had to rely purely on hard work, courage and kindness of people. No matter what your dreams are,  "It's Possible".

While growing in a suburb in South India, I watched Lord of the rings in 2001 and a child like dream ws born. I wanted to make New Zealand my home, one day. It took 13 long years for that dream to come true. After having granted a resident visa, I started a new chapter of my life in New Zealand. Upon entering the country, I ran/hiked the Te Araroa trail -- a trail that runs the length of NZ  (3054km) unsupported in 87 days. During this adventure I partnered with Tearfun NZ and raised funds for anti-sex trafficking cause. I was awarded the runner-up for the Wilderness Outdoor Hero of the Year for this feat.

Timothy Shadbolt, the Mayor of Invercargill, greeted me at Bluff to congratulate my achievment and preseted a medallion

I am in the process of publishing my book about Te Araroa run in NZ focusing on the lovely hospitality and the random acts of kindness received from fellow Kiwis. I travel around the world for adventure, while raising awareness/campaigning against sex trafficking, a cause that’s very close to my heart and working on disaster relief efforts.

"HUMANS ARE ONLY ONE OF MANY THINGS, AND ALL THESE THINGS LONG TO LIVE, AND THE HIGHEST FORM OF LIVING IS FREEDOM: A MAN TO BE A MAN, A CLOUD TO BE A CLOUD, BAMBOO TO BE BAMBOO."

-  RICHARD FLANAGAN

Freedom, the highest form of living yet there are millions of people who do not have it. We live in a world where vulnerable people are lured away from their families with promises of money and a better life. Once in the hands of traffickers, they’re deceived, coerced, and blackmailed into lives of commercial sexual exploitation, often NEVER to see their families again.

Only 2% will ever be rescued, and the ones who are have to endure not only the difficultly of coping with what they’ve been through, but also facing their perpetrator, often standing only feet away to bring them to justice in court.

4.5 MILLION

The number of people in forced sexual exploitation – the population of New Zealand. The vast majority are women and children.

21 MILLION

People are currently in slavery, more than any other time in history.

98%

Of victims of forced commercial sexual exploitation are female. Around 20% are children
